Usage & Requirements

• Each vessel needs to have a set of Brake Test Kit on board for the annual Brake Holding & Brake Rendering Test.
• ISGOTT & OCIMF requires all Tankers to test the brakes of their mooring winch annually.
• Bulk Carriers and Container Ships are required to provide the Brake Test Reports for Pilbara Ports Authority, BHP Billiton, RightShip Survey, and Green Award.

Compliance & Guidelines

The Guidelines under SOLAS II-I Reg. 3-8 - MSC.1/Circ.1620 stress that operators should integrate a comprehensive policy of mooring line inspection into their Line Management Plan (LMP).
