IMO NEW REGULATION for LIFTING APPLIANCES

At its 107th session, lMO's Maritime Safety Committee adopted amendments to SOLAS introducing a new regulation ll-1/3-13 on lifting appliances and anchor handling winches on board ships which will enter into force on 1 January 2026.

All lifting appliances and anchor handling winches, regardless of the installation date, and all loose gear utilized with any lifting appliances and anchor handling winches, are required to be operationally tested, thoroughly examined, inspected, operated, and maintained based on the Guidelines

The Loose Gears and Cargo Gears will be tagged and labelled by the vessel to trace the appliance to the relevant certificate. Tagging will be provided by MORDEC.
