Referring to IGC Convention No. 352, all (lifting appliances shall be thoroughly examined by a competent person annually)
Visual Inspection
- To review the present fitness of the frame structure.
Function Test
- The functions that the mechanical systems are well maintained and to minimize the potential of breaking down during cargo.
Load test
Witnessed by Class
- To ensure that the Container Spreader is safe to use within the Minimum Allowable Working Load.
Inspection Details
The inspection of Container Spreaders involves thoroughly checking all components of the spreader for signs of wear and tear, blocking cracks, corrosion, loose bolts, damage to the frame, twist locks, and locking mechanisms, ensuring proper functionality and safety by verifying that all moving parts are lubricated, and that the spreader is clean and free of debris; this inspection should be conducted regularly according to manufacturer guidelines and before each use to identify potential issues and prevent accidents.
